Imagine drones that map and clean the ocean

H2O is currently collaborating with a marine exploration hardware and software manufacturer to create an underwater drone equipped with a floating solar panel, chemical sampler and multibeam echo-sounder.

The floating solar panel is attached to the underwater drone to provide it with power and to hold any additional hardware to keep the underwater drone light and to avoid damage to the additional hardware.

The chemical sampler will allow us to collect data on the locations of chemicals through out the ocean.

The echo-sounder works by sending a sound signal into the water. The sound waves travel through the water until it hits the seafloor where they are reflected back up to the echo-sounder. This process will allow us to create a detailed map of the ocean.

H2O is also researching ways of not only cleaning the ocean but also methods to avoid future pollution.
